A Spiritual home of faith

st Joseph Church, Vadakkekotta

The revelation of the Sleeping St. Joseph statue gained widespread recognition when Pope Francis shared his personal connection with it during a visit to Manila in 2015. The Holy Father disclosed that whenever he faced a problem, he would write a note to St. Joseph and place it beneath the statue in his room—a statue depicting St. Joseph in peaceful slumber. Over time, the statue’s mattress became adorned with countless notes, a testament to the grace of God that allowed him to sleep well.

Upon hearing this inspiring story, Rev. Fr. Jolly Thappalodath, the parish priest of that time, was filled with a deep desire to bring a similar miraculous statue to St. Joseph Church, Vadakkekotta . His unwavering efforts, coupled with a touch of divine intervention, the statue was obtained from Rome.

The sacred statue of Sleeping Joseph graced us on 26 January, 2016, and its airport reception was filled with a heavenly sense of warmth and delight. Several neighboring churches, including Aluva, Kalamassery, Kakkanad, Irumpanam and Karingachira extended their joyous welcome to this special statue. As the statue reached Church at Vadakkekotta in the evening, it marked a day of visual splendor and divine blessings for the faithful. The statue was placed on a specially designed arcade balcony within the church.

Since then, it has showered the faithful with blessings beyond measure. Thousands have flocked to this church on Wednesdays, seeking the intercession and blessings of St. Joseph. Later, an exquisite and larger version of the same statue was crafted and placed in the side of the altar, adjacent to the main wing.
